Send a message to Trader Joe's: Commit to antibiotic-free meat.
Today (August 10, 2012) is the LAST DAY to sign this petition.
The misuse of antibiotics on factory farms helps animals grow faster and endure crowded, dirty, stressful conditions — while also breeding antibiotic-resistant bacteria, or “superbugs.” Nearly two million Americans per year develop hospital-acquired infections, resulting in 99,000 deaths — the vast majority of which are due to antibacterial-resistant pathogens.
The Food and Drug Administration is under intense pressure from giant agribusiness and pharmaceutical industries, and is dragging its feet on protecting consumers. That’s why NRDC is asking the retailers to take action, starting by asking Trader Joe’s to commit to selling only meat and poultry raised without antibiotics. Send a message to Trader Joe’s.
